(VIDEO TUTORIAL): 'Treasure' Scrapbooking Layout using 2crafty chipboard

Hello friends,

Ive a short & sweet post to share today with a Video Tutorial for this scrapbook page.

The colour palette for the page was directed by the photograph. I was inspired to use this photograph when I saw this moodboard on Mixed Media Place.

Look at the photograph in the centre. Is it sunrise or sunset? Don't know, yet its beautiful and the other photographs convey a fuzzy beautiful feeling. I thought back about the time when there was no sense of time - day / night …. you guessed right - with a new baby in hand we were all living by the babys' clock not day and night. Lol. Yet, there was this happy feeling.

I love to include symbols that remind me of details around the time the photograph was taken - like the blue tissue and star sequins that were part of a baby gift many years ago.

My favourite cluster is the on the top right - love the patterns and texture.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.

Happy creating,

'Timeless' Scrapbooking Layout with 2crafty Chipboard

Hello friends,

I have been hoarding these gorgeous Romance Novel Prima Marketing papers for ages. So, finally pulled them out this month and decided to make a layout alongwith my favourite  Lindy Stamp Gang products. Its spring here in Australia, so I definitely felt like pinks & flowers.

Ive fussy cut flowers from Romance Novel pattern papers and collaged it on the background pattern paper before using texture paste and my favourite Lindy Stamp Gang in Shabby Turbine Teal Magicals & Cotton Candy Pink Shimmer Spray. Ive used Cotton Candy pink spray to also colour the chipboard pieces.
Can you see the gold foil on the chipboard flowers? I love the shine it adds to the layout. To make this layout extra special, the blue ribbon I've strung through the papers behind the photograph were used to decorate my babys' bassinet.
 Here is another close up.

(VIDEO TUTORIAL): 'Vintage' Scrapbook Layout using 2crafty chipboard & 7Dots Studio

'You are not old, your Vintage'

You can find the video tutorial for this page here.

This month, my scrapbook layout is inspired by two of my favourite blogs -

So, almost literally as described on the 7dots studio blog, on a cozy warm, winter afternoon, I made time for myself to reflect on my journey these last few years. To document this, I chose the nostalgic 'Thoughts Keeper' collection.
The memories around the time this photograph was taken feel like just yesterday, so close, so fresh and crystal clear. But when I reflect on it, I've grown so much as a person since then. So much has changed, yet so much still remains.

I decided to include messages and reminders to myself through symbolism - love for music through collaged music notes from Tim Holtz tissue, my daily ritual of drawing kolams (traditional indian mandala type designs) using a Kaisercraft stencil on the background, delicate lace and dainty chipboard reminds me of conversations I had with my grand mother & great grandmother about life, roses to remind me that even the most pretty things come with thorns and finally a word sticker with the words rise & shine - its never too late to try something new, one is never too late old to rise above our challenges and inspire those around.

I hope you enjoy the video tutorial.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Happy creating,
Kripa

'Cherish' scrapbooking layout using Pion Design & 2crafty chipboard

Hello friends,

My layout today was created last month for the CSI Case File: 255 which was sponsored by 2crafty chipboard. Purple is hardly my go to colour, but I decided to try something different and for this used the absolutely stunning Pion Design pattern paper collection - Where the roses grow.

I've layered many different chipboard pieces in between layers of pattern paper.  All the chipboard pieces were first coated with white gesso and then painted over with Colourarte Twinkling H2Os & Vivid Ultra Metallics. All supplies have been listed at the end of this post.

For the mini cluster on the left, half a piece of the Formal Flourish 3 has been tucked underneath the light woodgrain paper. Over it is a cluster of flowers along with a piece of Leafy Twig Branches. There are also many fussy cut elements amongst the embellishments.

This close-up reminds me of how far Ive come with using flowers on my layout. There was a time when I struggled to even find place for one & this layout has 10!!!

Thank you for stopping by & leaving me some love.

Happy crafting,
Kripa

July challenge

'Wings' made me want to try something very different, something I had never thought or tried before - using a gel press to make the background of the layout. The soft colours & the madonna like image made me want to choose this photo of mine with my kids. Brushes ofcourse to splatter & paint all over the page & background.

Wishing you sunshine & creative happiness this week.

See you back next Tuesday.

VIDEO Tutorial : Beginner Mixed Media A4 Layout

Hello friends,

I'm back to share my next layout for 2crafty chipboard & Colourarte for this month.

Further down is a link the video tutorial for this page.

'LOVE'

The colours are inspired by the Words & Paintery moodboard
You have until mid August to play along.

All the chipboards were first covered with white gesso, dried and then painted over with Colourarte Vivid Ultra Metallics. The pink paint on Doodled Heart was looking very bright after painting, so Ive dabbed some white gesso to soften the colour and give a distressed look.

Gigi's flowers got the tiniest amount of twinkling H2O watercolour, for the most part they retain their white from the gesso. The title from the Fine Words Set was painted over with 3 shades of pink Vivid Ultra Metallics from Colourarte.

Can you spy 4 ways Ive used roses on this layout - decoupaged roses from an Ikea serviette, roses on pattern paper, stamped roses and chippie roses. Roses 3 ways on a kraft background is the challenge at Kraftplus challenges this month. I just couldnt resist joining in.

I hope you enjoy the video.

Colourarte Supplies:

(VIDEO Tutorial) : 'Cool Dude' using 2crafty & Colourarte for ARTastic Challenge July 2017

'COOL DUDE'

Hi creative pals,

Today, I want to share one of my 2crafty chipboard & Colourarte projects this month.

The colours and shapes are inspired by this painting which is the challenge prompt at
ARTastic Challenge blog.
To participate, just upload a project inspired by the painting & use pen on your layout.
So, you can doodle, outline paper layers, or just use a pen to write on your layout.

All the chipboard pieces were first coated with white gesso. I stuck the Triangle clusters on the layout and then dabbed Twinkling H2Os on them using a brush; a tiny bit of yellow, a touch of blue and a dot of red. Remember to leave some white space. It brightens the colours (visual illusion).

Using foam dots between the layers of patter paper behind the photograph, makes it easy to tuck in chipboard to embelish the layout. I outlined the pattern paper layers and Cool Dude Title chipboard with a pen so the letters standout.

To balance the page while not taking the spotlight away from the Triangle Clusters, Ive used 3 pieces of Chevron Bits chipboard.

Here is the video of how this page came together. I hope you enjoy it.

Look forward to reading your comments.

(Tutorial) : Beginner Mixed media Grungy Masculine Scrapbook Layout

Hello creative friends,

My project today is a grungy, masculine scrapbook layout using Colourarte's Vivid Ultra Metallics and Primary Elements Artist Pigments and 2crafty chipboard made in May as a Father's day If you are a beginner, this is an easy layout that can be completed within and hour or two including drying time.

Here is a step by step of how the page came together.

1. Start by applying clear gesso on the pattern paper. Take a closer look at the photo on the left, you can see a very thin layer of texture paste through a gears stencil.

Before adding paints and more, I like to place the photo and decide on a sketch of sorts so I know where the next layer of paints should be applied.

2.  Stick a few of the pattern papers and wire mesh tape. Mix some Spiced Pumpkin,Majestic Blue Primary Elements Arte Pigments individually with gel medium and a tiny blob of sand texture. Mix well and apply through a stencil as below.

After applying the paste, I placed the stencil as is and cleaned it on the pattern paper with a dry wipe. That gave the faded brown marks on the far right.

3. Dilute some Teal Zircon Vivid Ultra Metallics and using a paint brush apply around the stenciled gel paste and spray with water to move the paint around. This helps reveal the gears texture. This is the reason I gesso the entire layout before adding any medium.  I like to use water to make drips and move the paint around. Without gesso, the paper will soak up the paint and it wont move as much.

You can use a heat gun to dry the paints, but I didnt want to wake the kids with my noisy heat gun. So, I went on to prepare my embellishments while the background air dried.

4. Apply a layer of white gesso on all the 2crafty chipboard pieces using a sponge dabber and then using your fingers add some blobs of sand texture very unevenly and in a few random places on all the chip boards except the title.

Dry and then add any remaining paints from the previous steps onto the cogs. Spray some water so the paint gets into the cracks and the crevices of the sand texture so that it gets highlighted.

5. Here is a close up of the layers behind the photograph. Just cut some pattern paper, distress with the edge of your scissors, layer behind the photograph with a wire mesh tape. In between the layers, Ive glued cardboard (instead of foam dots) so that I can tuck in some chipboard pieces. Can you see the shiny paints!

6. For the title, after a layer of white gesso, only one word was painted with some Primary Elements in Spiced Pumpkin. Here is a closeup of the title. Finish off by stamping using Black Archival Ink & texture stamps from Kaisercraft & Prima.

 Another look at the layout.
