(Tutorial) : 'Moments' Shabby Chic Scrapbook Layout

Hi crafty pals,

My first share this month is a shabby chic layout featuring a photo of my little boy.

I think I can still get away with using pink as he is a toddler :)
This picture was taken in our backyard one spring day but I cant remember what he was pointing to.

Although I didnt record every step along the way, here is a tutorial of how the page came together. Add clean water to the pots of Colourarte Twinkling H2Os : Coral Berry, Apple Blossom, Blushing Caramel, Pink Cloud, Chiffon Pink.

Prepare the background as shown and give a coat of clear gesso. Use white gesso to tone down the bright colours of the eyelets. Ive roughly torn a lace strip to thread through the eyelets.

These are Prima Marketing Rosibelle Collection pattern papers. While this dries, fussy cut flowers from pattern papers in the same collection.

These are the 2crafty chipboard pieces used in the layout: Frame handrawn hearts, Circle Lace Panel, Leafy Silhouettes. All of them have been coated with white gesso and then white acrylic paint. Tuck in some Circle Lace Panel chipboard pieces between the layers while the gesso is wet.

Using a tiny bit of Apple Blossom, Blushing Caramel, colour some lace and tuck alongwith the chipboard.

Apply modeling paste through a stencil.

Time to add colour to the background. The first one added was Pink Cloud. It matched the colour of the background and blended very well with the background. Dry well. Then add Coral Berry, Apple Blossom, to finish splatter some Chiffon Pink.

Edge all the papers with Blushing Caramel. Using paint to edge gives a more distressed look than ink pads.

Arrange all the paper layers behind the photograph and embellishments.

Add more of the same twinks along the egdes of the pattern paper layers and make them drip using a water spritzer. Dry. Repeat till you like the way it looks.

After all the embellishments were added, add micro-beads and glass glitter, splatter watered down gesso and stamp using black archival ink.

The photograph chosen for the layout is inspired by this painting by Ethel Spowers titled The Kite, which is the inspiration at ARTastic Challenge Blog this month.
Criteria is to use a photograph of children or vintage style or both.
You have till end of the month to play along.

The lace and flowery layers are inspired by the current moodboard challenge at Mixed Media Place
