'Timeless' Scrapbooking Layout with 2crafty Chipboard

Hello friends,

I have been hoarding these gorgeous Romance Novel Prima Marketing papers for ages. So, finally pulled them out this month and decided to make a layout alongwith my favourite  Lindy Stamp Gang products. Its spring here in Australia, so I definitely felt like pinks & flowers.

Ive fussy cut flowers from Romance Novel pattern papers and collaged it on the background pattern paper before using texture paste and my favourite Lindy Stamp Gang in Shabby Turbine Teal Magicals & Cotton Candy Pink Shimmer Spray. Ive used Cotton Candy pink spray to also colour the chipboard pieces.
Can you see the gold foil on the chipboard flowers? I love the shine it adds to the layout. To make this layout extra special, the blue ribbon I've strung through the papers behind the photograph were used to decorate my babys' bassinet.
 Here is another close up.

'Cherish' scrapbooking layout using Pion Design & 2crafty chipboard

Hello friends,

My layout today was created last month for the CSI Case File: 255 which was sponsored by 2crafty chipboard. Purple is hardly my go to colour, but I decided to try something different and for this used the absolutely stunning Pion Design pattern paper collection - Where the roses grow.

I've layered many different chipboard pieces in between layers of pattern paper.  All the chipboard pieces were first coated with white gesso and then painted over with Colourarte Twinkling H2Os & Vivid Ultra Metallics. All supplies have been listed at the end of this post.

For the mini cluster on the left, half a piece of the Formal Flourish 3 has been tucked underneath the light woodgrain paper. Over it is a cluster of flowers along with a piece of Leafy Twig Branches. There are also many fussy cut elements amongst the embellishments.

This close-up reminds me of how far Ive come with using flowers on my layout. There was a time when I struggled to even find place for one & this layout has 10!!!

Thank you for stopping by & leaving me some love.

Happy crafting,
Kripa

(Tutorial) : 'Moments' Shabby Chic Scrapbook Layout

Hi crafty pals,

My first share this month is a shabby chic layout featuring a photo of my little boy.

I think I can still get away with using pink as he is a toddler :)
This picture was taken in our backyard one spring day but I cant remember what he was pointing to.

Although I didnt record every step along the way, here is a tutorial of how the page came together. Add clean water to the pots of Colourarte Twinkling H2Os : Coral Berry, Apple Blossom, Blushing Caramel, Pink Cloud, Chiffon Pink.

Prepare the background as shown and give a coat of clear gesso. Use white gesso to tone down the bright colours of the eyelets. Ive roughly torn a lace strip to thread through the eyelets.

These are Prima Marketing Rosibelle Collection pattern papers. While this dries, fussy cut flowers from pattern papers in the same collection.

These are the 2crafty chipboard pieces used in the layout: Frame handrawn hearts, Circle Lace Panel, Leafy Silhouettes. All of them have been coated with white gesso and then white acrylic paint. Tuck in some Circle Lace Panel chipboard pieces between the layers while the gesso is wet.

Using a tiny bit of Apple Blossom, Blushing Caramel, colour some lace and tuck alongwith the chipboard.

Apply modeling paste through a stencil.

Time to add colour to the background. The first one added was Pink Cloud. It matched the colour of the background and blended very well with the background. Dry well. Then add Coral Berry, Apple Blossom, to finish splatter some Chiffon Pink.

Edge all the papers with Blushing Caramel. Using paint to edge gives a more distressed look than ink pads.

Arrange all the paper layers behind the photograph and embellishments.

Add more of the same twinks along the egdes of the pattern paper layers and make them drip using a water spritzer. Dry. Repeat till you like the way it looks.

After all the embellishments were added, add micro-beads and glass glitter, splatter watered down gesso and stamp using black archival ink.

The photograph chosen for the layout is inspired by this painting by Ethel Spowers titled The Kite, which is the inspiration at ARTastic Challenge Blog this month.
Criteria is to use a photograph of children or vintage style or both.
You have till end of the month to play along.

The lace and flowery layers are inspired by the current moodboard challenge at Mixed Media Place
mmp-moodboard-05-2017

& the idea of a pink layout is from the challenge See it in pink : Scrapki Wyzwaniowo

I have plenty of unblogged layouts to share this month.
I hope you will visit me again later this week :)
Happy long weekend (my Oz readers)hope you find some creative time.

Shabby Art journal Cover

I'm enjoying trying different forms of scrapbooking off late. Earlier this year, I dabbled with grunge Finnabair style altered paintbrush, then tried my hand at a more traditional painting style journal page and I was raring to experiment and try something more. So, this month, I combined three moodboard / inspiration cues and the versatile colourarte products to create something in a completely different style.

More than words challenge blog inspiration word is Bliss. To me this means creating with my favourite products - gesso, texture paste, lace and soft colours.

The next criteria I chose to include is a key from the challenge at Scrapki Wyzwaniowo - March Challenge - Keys and decided to finally alter the cover of my art journal the key symbolizing answers to life's questions (which is usually what I journal about in this book). And finally, this gorgeous moodboard from Prima marketing, which also features lace and soft colours.
PPP March 2016

So goes the story of this altered journal which started as layers of pretty Prima marketing papers (Butterfly collection), lace, resin pieces and metal held by brads. All of it was covered with clear gesso to prepare for the next layer of twinkling H2O paints by colourarte - chiffon pink, summer breeze, buttercup and the tiniest bit of bashful  blue .

In order to get a delicate hint of pink in the texture paste, dab chiffon pink twinkling H2O with a waterbrush onto the stencil, then place the stencil on the background and pull texture paste through it. The colour gets trapped in the texture paste giving soft hints of pink in random places. Some texture paste remains white, some areas get more colour, some less depending on how much paint was dabbed on the stencil.

When everything is dry, run some gold paint only on a raised areas with a dry brush and a very light hand. The raised edges of the lace flower, some texture paste will catch the gold and give a sharp, shiny colour in contrast to the soft pastel colours. You can see this better in this close up which also shows some of the mica which only shines when it catches light.

I've had my fair share of fun this long weekend and so excited there are two more days to go and hopefully some more time to create and blog. Thank you for visiting me today my friend.

Cheers,
Kripa

New Beginnings - Altered Canvas

Hello peeps,

A very Happy New Year. Sharing with you all my first project for the year - hope I make many more as I totally totally loved experimenting with these products that were sitting in their original packaging - donna Downey stencils, colourarte pigments (wow!) and a whole heaps of finnabair stamps, beads, microbeads, stencils. Hurray to Mixed media place. The challenge New Beginnings made me sort my supplies and find all this buried treasure. Lol.

I don't think of myself as a true artist just yet, but just making this piece has filled me with a certain amount of confidence to just let go and Create for the joy of colours,  experimenting and expressing.

My first time with pigments, I used all the 4 in my stash - autumn skies, cinnamon brown , spiced pumpkin and china black. Linking to the Colourarte Jan challenge :

Prima Coffee Break - Cards

Hello mateys,

How has the week been progressing for you? Its getting warmer here in Sydney, spring is in the air and in my mood. Combining my DT work for both MMCC and Lulupu this month.
Lulupu's challenge for you is to create a project with
There are so many products that you can use to add some shine to your projects - the good old rhinestone, sugar dots, more trendy sequins, glitter. Don't forget Heidi Swap colour shine mists, ranger perfect pearls, wink of Stella..... the list goes on.
The Mixed Media Card Challenge theme this month is friendship with an optional element of using ribbon.
Today I want to share 3 cards with you all, mixed media style of course. All of them are made with Prima Coffee Break papers, wood embellishments, stamps and medium, based on the September Prima BAP.
2015-September-BAP-riikka

The background for this card was prepared using strips of torn paper, gesso, a bit of lace, stencilling using the prima bubble stencil and finally a sticker from the same collection. Watercolours were added after that and finally when everything was dry, mix glass glitter with gel medium and apply. Gel medium dries clear, meaning you can see the paint and layers underneath giving a very interesting effect.

For this card, start by applying 3d gel through prima stencil, before the gel dries, sprinkle glitter over it. You can combine two or more glitters too for more depth. Allow to dry completely, else the glitter will stick to your fingers and come off. Places where the glitter didn't stick, the 3d gel medium gives a see through embossed kind of effect.

My final card is very simple. Ive used the traditional rhinestone to add colour to an otherwise coffee coloured card.

Thank you for visiting me today. Have a great week.

Happy Birthday Lulupu and Prima March BAP

Hello friends,

My blog has been awfully neglected these last few weeks. Haven't done much other than DT work..... a bit low on mojo. What do you do when you feel this way? Ive been fussy cutting paper, making backgrounds for layouts .... still waiting..... lol.

But I do have something to share with you all. Most of my layouts are built around a photograph, this one is an exception, made as a gift, created purely based on this moodboard and the Prima March BAP sketch.

These are what I chose from the moodboard:
Colours: Pink, Teal, Gold, Yellow, sap green
Materials: tissue, lace, string
Embellishments : flowers, glitter, pennant

And the final one, the number 3 is used in the title of the layout, peeking from under the layers.

The background is a pale pink cardstock which very gracefully took the wrath of the mediums I poured on it. There are many layers of tissue, spray, paint, watercolour pencils and mediums (Finnabair's totally awesome range of medium - gesso, gel medium, texture paste and stencils) All the papers are different Prima releases - Coffee break, princess, Annalle, songbird easy to mix and match.

Lots of exciting activities this month to celebrate Lulupu's 3rd Birthday.
We have games, a sale lulupu shop,  a birthday bash raffle and a monthly challenge with loads of prizes to be won. Hope you are able to join us this month.

Wishing you all a great week ahead.

Cheers,
Kripa
