(VIDEO Tutorial) - GDT ARTastic June Challenge

Hello peeps,

I'm on the ARTastic blog today as Guest Designer sharing my take on their June challenge. For those if you that haven't visited ARTastic before - Jane Howden scores the web and shares one amazingly talented artist's work every month. This piece serves as inspiration and the basis of the challenge prompt for that month.

This months image is

The challenge prompt this month made me want to scrap a special photo. I've made layouts of this photo before, yet I want to make more. This photo is from the day my older son met his younger brother for the first time.

Let me try and explain how I’ve tried to express my emotions through colour & texture in this layout. When I look at this photo, time just stops for me (depicted by the black and white background) and I’m taken over by a feeling of love, joy and amazement (soft delicate – hand drawn flowers, lace, hearts, vellum) , probably similar to what my boys experienced that moment! The stars are my prayer to God to shower his blessing on my boys and our family.

Here is a video of how the page came together. The whole page came together in a couple of hours which is a first for me..... I take days to complete my layouts. My favourite part of the layout was making the puffy stars, the photo doesn't do justice to the gorgeous texture it created in the background.

Hope you enjoy watching. Thank you for stopping by today.

(VIDEO tutorial) : Mixed media Scrapbooking layout - Imagine

Hello friends,

I had a blast this long weekend and managed to make 3 layouts with videos....... eeeks!
I share one video today, the other two need to be edited.

This layout is based off inspiration from More than words
Word Inspiration - IMAGINE
Creative Challenge - GET MESSY
and the color combination based on Lindy Stamp Gang mood board.

My son is a big time dreamer, loves pretend play and thankfully for the moment imagines more than monsters under his bed! So, I used it as the title for my page.

There are a lot of Crate Paper products in here - papers, chipboard, vellum and amy tan rub-ons and stickers. The colours are LSG magicals - Shabby turbine teal, rusty lantern lime and mist cotton candy pink. Ive also used Faber Castell gelatos in coordinating colours.

I hope you enjoy this video, would love to hear what you think of it.

Cheers,

Kripa

Mixed media Canvas tutorial for Colourarte

Hello friends,

I have very happy news to share with you all - I will be designing for Colourarte for the next few  months! Here is my very first project with a tutorial on the colourarte blog.

Altered paintbrush using Colourarte primary elements
Off late, Ive been wanting to make projects with more meaning than just aesthetic appeal and so here is the story behind this canvas. There was a time when I would find inspiration in a lot of things around me and painted everyday. Along the way life happened (thread embedded in the texture paste) and I lost that mojo. This piece is a reminder to not given up and strive to find that part of me again (represented by the gears and clocks) , to create (paintbrush) and stay true to my inspiration (the markings on the butterfly)

Its amazing the different shades of colour that can be made with just 4 pigments depending on  what medium you mix it with. The patina colour on the gears and the blue butterfly are made with same pigment - Autumn skies.

I hope you take a few minutes to read the tutorial on the Colourarte blog and leave me your comments.

Thank you,
Happy long weekend NSWers
&
Happy Creating,
Kripa
